Garin Debutts, a former Nottingham School student and resident of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, tragically passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the age of 16. Garin was born on December 7, 2007, at Exeter Hospital to his proud parents, Daniel Richard DeButts and Cathy Ann (Geisser) DeButts. He spent his formative years in Nottingham, New Hampshire, where he was surrounded by a loving family and a supportive community that admired his dedication, service, and many accomplishments.

Garin Debutts’ Education and Accomplishments

From an early age, Garin demonstrated a passion for learning and community involvement. He began his educational journey at All Aboard Preschool and Nottingham School, where he laid a strong foundation for his future studies. He continued his academic path at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, where he would have been a junior this year. Garin’s enthusiasm for learning and commitment to excellence were evident in all his pursuits, making him a standout student.

Garin’s sense of community and service was most notably expressed through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. He started his Scouting journey with Cub Scout Pack 167, earning the prestigious Arrow of Light, the highest honor in Cub Scouting. His commitment continued as he joined Boy Scout Troop 167, where he achieved the rank of Life Scout. Garin was diligently working on his Eagle Scout project over the summer, demonstrating his dedication and leadership skills.

Among his many talents, Garin was an exceptional marksman. He was the only member of his troop to earn the Rifle Merit Badge, showcasing his skill and precision. His accomplishments in Scouting were not limited to his personal achievements; he was deeply committed to community service. Garin accumulated hundreds of hours of service through various activities, including Scouting for Food, roadside cleanups, and supporting fellow Scouts’ Eagle Scout projects. His contributions had a significant impact on his community, reflecting his generous spirit and dedication to helping others.

Garin leaves behind his parents, Dan and Cathy (Geisser) DeButts of Nottingham; his brothers, Daniel DeButts and Heath DeButts, both of Nottingham; his grandparents, Dan and Linda DeButts of Epping, NH, and John A. Geisser of Wynantskill, NY; his uncle and aunt, Robert Geisser and Carissa Geisser of Industry, ME; his aunt and uncle, John W. Geisser and Meredith Geisser of Wynantskill, NY; and his uncle, Chris DeButts of Fountain, AZ. He also leaves behind many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.

Funeral Arrangements and Celebration of Life

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. A celebration of Garin’s life will also be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Nottingham Community Center at 139 Stage Rd., Nottingham NH 03290. During this celebration, family and friends will eulogize and share stories to honor Garin’s memory and the impact he had on their lives.
