Her volunteer work included significant contributions to the YMCA, the Misquamicut Business Association, the Westerly Chamber of Commerce, the Chorus of Westerly, the WARM Center, Stand Up for Animals, the Olean Center, and the Westerly Land Trust.
Michelle’s commitment to her community was evident in her involvement with these organizations, where she consistently enhanced every cause she supported. Her vibrant and welcoming nature made her a beloved figure at social gatherings and events. Michelle had a unique ability to make everyone feel at home, ensuring that her parties were not only well-attended but also abundant with food and warmth. Her hospitality was a reflection of her generous spirit, always ensuring that there was enough for everyone, no matter the size of the gathering.
Michelle’s professional achievements were equally impressive. She earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island, a testament to her dedication to education and personal growth. Together with her mother and sister, Michelle co-owned The Andrea Seaside Restaurant and Beach Bar in Misquamicut, transforming it into a cherished local venue. The Andrea was more than just a restaurant; it was a place where the community gathered, celebrated, and created memories, thanks to Michelle’s hard work and vision.
However, Michelle’s greatest legacy lies in her children, Alex and Lila. She was a devoted mother who instilled in her children the values of kindness, generosity, intelligence, and confidence. Her deep involvement in the arts, particularly her support for her children’s participation in the Chorus of Westerly, demonstrated her belief in the importance of cultural enrichment. Ryan Saunders, the Executive Director of the Chorus of Westerly, noted Michelle’s passion for bringing music into children’s lives, highlighting her dedication to fostering creativity and artistic expression.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Pinto, and their two children, Alex and Lila. Her family also includes her mother, Judith Colucci, her sister, Rebecca Colucci, and nephew, Devin Brough. Additionally, Michelle’s extended family, including Patrick’s siblings and their families, will continue to cherish her memory. The surviving family members are Sarah, Trevor, Patrick, and Drew; Amelia, James, Calin, and Harrison; John, Emily, Caroline, and Connor; and Margaret and Colin.
In honor of Michelle’s life and legacy, a Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church, located at 7 Elm Street, Westerly, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8th. While visiting hours have been respectfully omitted, relatives and friends are invited to attend the service and the reception that will follow at The Andrea. Michelle’s burial will be private, in accordance with her family’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in Michelle Pinto’s memory to either the Chorus of Westerly or the Westerly Land Trust. These donations will continue to support the causes that Michelle was passionate about, ensuring that her legacy of generosity and community support lives on.
