It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sarah Brooks, a beloved member of the Locust Grove High School Theater and Thespian Club. Sarah passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the young age of 16. The circumstances surrounding her death have not been disclosed at this time.
Sarah Brooks’ Life and Accomplishments
Born on November 22, 2007, and raised in Henry County, Sarah Brooks was a vibrant and talented young woman who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was known for her exceptional dancing skills, mastering various styles with grace and precision. Sarah had a special passion for the art of acrobatics, and her dedication to the craft was evident in the numerous prizes she won as a beauty queen and tumbler.
Sarah was actively involved in the Locust Grove High School Thespian Club, where she showcased her talent and love for theater. She was also a valued member of the Locust Grove Varsity Gymnastics Team, competing with great enthusiasm and skill. Her commitment to her education and extracurricular activities made her a standout student and athlete, admired by peers and teachers alike.
Family and Community Mourning
Sarah Brooks is survived by her loving parents, Jill Williamson Brooks and Dr. Bobby Shane Brooks, and her older brother, Leviticus “Levi” Shane Brooks, whom she affectionately called “Bubba.” Her grandparents, Judy Williamson, Diane Williamson, and Sylvia Lockridge, along with her late grandparents Jackie Williamson, Bill Lockridge, and Eddie T. Brooks “Papaw Eddie,” who she will be laid to rest beside, will remember her fondly. She is also survived by her uncles, Chris Brooks and Jeff (Stefanie) Williamson, her aunt Ashley Porthro (Greg), and numerous cousins including Onna, Cole, Elijah, Alivia, Amya, and Emma.
Celebration of Life and Visitation
A visitation for Sarah Brooks will be held at Haisten Funeral Home, located at 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway South, McDonough, GA 30253, on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 6:00-9:00 PM. The community is invited to pay their respects and offer their condolences to the Brooks family during this time.
A Celebration of Sarah’s Life will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Turning Point Church, 78 Old Jackson Road, McDonough, GA 30252. Following the service, Sarah will be laid to rest at Historic Red Oak Church, formerly known as Red Oak United Methodist Church, located at 15105 Hwy 36, Covington, GA 30014.
